Eric and Kim own an old farm house in the small town of Grant, right outside Idaho Falls. In the back yard they have a very large potato cellar. At first they used the cellar as storage but Kim wanted to use the large space for much more.
She wanted to turn it into an art studio/play room for her kids. She knew it would take a lot more then just cleaning up the space and laying down carpet. She wanted it done right, she knew she would be living in this house for a very long time and he just wanted to take advantage of all the space she could. She talked with Eric and they started to look for a company that specialized in finishing basements. One thing they had to be sure of was that they needed to make sure the space was waterproofed, being surrounding on almost all sides by soil the ground water could become their biggest issue. That’s when they called Foundation Support Works. We have all the right tools, products and knowledge to take care of all their needs and wants on this project.
By the time we had finished, you never would have guessed you were standing in an old potato cellar. Not only that but we made the room a lot safer and less moist. Eric and Kim couldn’t have been any happier with the job. If you have an old cellar or basement that you would like to use as living space please call us we service all of Idaho! Ben from Coeur d'Alene noticed standing water under the vapor barrier in his crawlspace. Ben was worried that the water could cause other issues like mold or wood rot. He started to search the web for help, he found CleanSpace vapor barrier on our website and noticed we services north Idaho Coeur d'Alene, Sandpoint, Lewiston, Post Falls, Mascow, Elk River and more.
We sent Jeff Smith up to Coeur d'Alene to met with Ben, Jeff crawled around in the crawlspace and came up with a design to improve Ben's crawl space drastically! First, Jeff wanted to install a SmartSump System to automatically remove water out of the crawl space, then install SmartPipe to keep the water away from the perimeter of the house and direct it to the sump pump. Next we installed our CleanSpace vapor barrier which is a 20 mil thick product. (Compared to the common 6 mil thick product most other companies use.)
When we were done, Ben was extremely pleased with the look of the crawl space! He crawled inside and was shocked at the quality of the products we had used.
John in Coeur D Alene has a home up in near Huetter on the Snake River. Every few years he checks out his crawlspace just to make sure it’s in good shape, and every year the thin black 6 mil liner is hanging down in areas and serving no purpose. John has replaced the liner 5 times in the last 15 years! “I keep up on every area of my house because one day I plan to sale it” John said.
He started to look for a vapor barrier that would last longer and came with a great warranty. That’s when John found CleanSpace on our website! He gave us a call and we sent Jeff Smith one of our System Design Specialist out to meet with John. Jeff explained how CleanSpace could have such a long warranty. CleanSpace is a super durable: 20mil thick, 7-layer polyethylene composition, with polyester cord reinforcement. In other words…it was exactly what John was looking for.
Just a few weeks later the new liner was installed under John’s house, his crawlspace had never looked so great! John crawled around and inspected the work. He was amazed! “ I am able to use the space for storage now and not worry about ripping the liner, its great! “ John said when we followed up with him a few weeks later. He had even recommend Clean Space to friends and family in Boise, Lewiston, PostFalls and Mascow!
Grant had just bought a home he custom designed and he was very happy with all of upgrades he had chosen to go with, but there was one thing missing. The crawl space had a very cheap black plastic liner that was only 6 mil think. Grants wife has really bad allergies and they learned that at least 25% of the air you breath with in your home comes from your crawlspace. They had just spent a lot of money to create their dream home and they both wanted to make sure she would be able to live comfortably.
They searched the web for the best crawlspace encapsulation process in the area. That was when they found CleanSpace. After giving us a call we met with them both and explained how we could help keep the air inside the home clean.
Not only did we clean the air, we also saved them money on their energy bills and gave them peace of mind about their crawlspace for years to come.
A homeowner in Worley, Idaho had concerns about her foundation. After noticing cracks in her drywall she went out to investigate her foundation. She found that the exterior of her foundation had many visible cracks. Not certain what to do, she found a contractor to come help. The contractor was able to come out quickly and discuss the cracks in the foundation, but then he quickly left to go back to Colorado! The homeowner was left feeling abandoned, and still needed the cracks in her foundation repaired!
After a little more research online, the homeowner discovered Foundation Supportworks of Idaho. She called right away to schedule an appointment with us.
Our foundation expert visited with the homeowner and performed a thorough inspection. The cracks were diagnosed as symptoms of settlement and piers were recommended to stabalize the house permanently. Knowing that we were local experts who were not going to abondon her mid-project, the homeowner entrusted us with the repair of her foundation.
The installation crew of Foundation Supportworks of Idaho were able to install several push piers that will provide lasting support of the foundation preventing further settlement and damage to the home. The homeowner will never have foundation settlement concerns again!
The porch is leaning on the right side next to an area near a wall. Most likely due to a rotten root under the beam. We quoted her a Post Pier.
A house can be 100 years old or it can be 1 year old, age does not make a difference when the structural integrity of a home is compromised. We have fixed new builds and old homes that have suffered from settlement. With this home, the builder did not pour the supporting walls correctly so over time the house could not hold. Unlike most settlement examples you see, the interior walls had settled significantly while the walls around the perimeter had no settlement. Due to the fact that this settlement was not addressed sooner, the home had SEVERE damage.
