Sinking Home Solved With SmartJacks in Boise, ID
Challenge
Homeowners gave us a call when they noticed several signs of sinking in a corner of their home. They noticed a gap between the baseboards and the floor in all bedrooms by the garage, a large crack between the tile back splash and counter top in the bathroom, and a large crack in the back patio that was continually growing larger. With a quick phone call, our expert came to the scene for a free investigation of the interior and exterior parts of the home. During the investigation, our expert found that floor joists were absorbing moisture which was causing them to bow and rot.
Solution
The recommended solution from our expert to the owners for this problem was extra support to help stabilize floors under the bedroom and bathroom. We quickly installed 2 SmartJacks despite the tight squeeze of the crawl space. These jacks offered the extra support needed to stabilize the house and prevent further sinking. We also recommended adding a dehumidifier to prevent further wood rot and sagging from excess moisture in the crawl space.
