Crawlspace Insulation to Fix Cold Master Bath
Challenge
We were contacted by a couple who noticed that their home was not heating and cooling evenly. The master bedroom and bathroom were always much hotter or cooler than the rest of the house. Their biggest complaint was waking up in the winter to a freezing cold tile floor in the master bathroom.
After some investigating, they realized that the portion of the home that they were having problems in was sitting on top of their crawlspace. The home was situated above a basement on one side, and a crawlspace on the other side. Knowing that the crawlspace was causing the problem, the homeowners contacted Foundation Supportworks of Idaho for some advice.
Solution
Our expert went out to meet with the couple, and verified that the crawlspace was indeed the root of the problem. During the inspection our specialist found that the crawlspace had no lining, was littered with debris, and very damp. Knowing that the goal of the homeowners was to keep the temperature of their home consistent, he suggested installing insulation. The couple decided to install SilverGlo insulation panels and our CleanSpace liner over drainage matting.
SilverGlo insulation panels are created with graphite infused foam and covered with foil, providing a 24% insulation value over regular foam. The CleanSpace lining keeps excess moisture from entering the crawlspace and the drainage matting helps condensation return to the earth efficiently with the added benefit of providing cushion to crawl on.
Despite the winter weather, our installation professionals were able to successfully clear out the debris from the crawlspace, install the CleanSpace drainage matting & liner, and insulate the space with SilverGlo panels. After cleaning up the worksite and letting the couple know their project was complete, they left the homeowners with a permanent fix to their heating and cooling problems. The best part, no freezing cold tile floor in the master bathroom for the rest of the winter!
