Pushed/Bowed in Wall Fixed in Middleton, ID
Challenge
A homeowner in Middleton, ID noticed that a wall in his finished basement was pushing in towards the top. This bowing-in had caused the drywall to have horizontal cracks along the entire length of the wall. A wall that is bowed or pushed in like this is caused by soil expanding and contracting as it becomes saturated with water, groundwater freezing and expanding in the winter, and evaporation during summertime. This concerned homeowner gave us a call when the cracking became evident, and one of our experienced design specialists rushed to the scene to assist. He was able to assess the situation and discuss possible solutions with the homeowner.
Solution
The homeowner and our expert had our trained installers place GeoLock Wall Anchors to stablize the bowing wall to prevent further damage from occuring. This then allows repairs to be made to the cracked drywall. They also left a special tightening kit so that the anchors can be tightened and adjusted as needed in the future. This ensures permanent stablization and allows the homeowner to be worry free of how his walls in his house respond to changing seasons. Now this homeowner can rest assured that his basement wall will remain undamaged in the future!
